Privacy

Most privacy policies are long because the site behind them collects a lot. This one is short for the opposite reason.

The short version

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no third-party scripts and has no advertising or tracking pixels of any kind. Browsing it leaves nothing behind on your device. The only personal information the studio ever receives is what you type into a box yourself — your email, if you join the list, and your address, if you buy a painting.

What is collected, and when

Nothing while you browse. There are exactly two moments where you hand over information, and both are moments where you chose to: when you join the studio list, and when you buy.

If you join the studio list

Your email address, and nothing else — no name, no birthday, no questionnaire. It is stored with Stripe, the same company that handles the payments, so that joining the list adds no new company to this page. It is used to tell you when a painting is finished. Every email has a way out, and leaving takes one reply.

Which advert brought you

If you arrive from an advert, the link carries a campaign name in it. When you join the list or buy, that campaign name is stored alongside your record so the studio knows which advert paid for itself. It is read from the page you were on at that moment and nothing is written to your device to remember it — which is why the studio only ever learns this about people who act on the page they landed on.

If you buy

Stripe collects your name, email address, phone number and shipping address, because a stretched canvas cannot be delivered without them. The phone number is for the freight carrier, who calls before a large delivery.

Your card

Card details are entered on Stripe's own payment page and never touch this site or the studio's systems. The studio can see that a payment succeeded, the last four digits and the card brand — the same as on a paper receipt — and nothing more.

Who else sees it

Two companies, both because the site could not work otherwise: Stripe, which processes the payment and holds the order, and Vercel, which hosts the site and keeps ordinary server logs. The shipping carrier is given the address and phone number needed to deliver. Nobody else. Your information is never sold, rented, traded or used to build a profile.

How long it is kept

Order records are kept as long as United States tax and business record-keeping law requires, and then no longer. They are kept because a sale has to be provable, not because they are useful.

Asking for your data, or its deletion

Write to the studio and ask. You will get a copy of everything held about you, or its deletion, within 30 days — with the single exception of records the studio is legally required to keep for tax purposes, which will be named to you specifically rather than hidden behind this sentence.

Email

If you write to the studio, the studio keeps the email, the way anyone keeps their correspondence. There is no mailing list, no newsletter and no automated marketing — writing about a painting will not sign you up for anything.

Children

This site is not directed at children and the studio does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If this changes

If the studio ever adds analytics, a newsletter or anything else that collects more than the above, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.
